Parks and Gardens in HampiHampi, once the whole city was full of parks and gardens with many fruit-trees, like mangoes, areca-palms, jack-trees, grapes, lime and orange trees, growing so close to each other, which appeared like a thick forest. Now, few parks and gardens maintained well, and many lawns and gardens were located in between the ruins of the city. If we see the whole city from Matunga hill top, we can see the most wonderful part of it. Also there are many farm houses and gardens in and around Hampi.
The major tourist garden around Hampi is Tungabadra Gardens located near Tungabadra dam which is located approximately 16kms from Hampi towards Hospet. This beautiful garden is well maintained and cleaned and has a good musical fountain, it is best enjoyed in the evening when the fountain dances for the music with colored lights, one of the nice place to hang out with kids. The educational paintings in the dam wall is an added treat for the tourist. This garden is open on all days and best time to visit this garden is 5pm to 8pm.
We can use Dongi to cross Tungabadra River, This Coracle Dongi Ride is an amazing experience for everyone. It is readily accessible in the ferries of Hampi. During the ride, we can see some stunning ancient rock and the wonderful landscape along the bank of river. Ride through the tranquil waters under the bright sun and clear sky is a fantastic experience. Never miss this best picnic spot in Hampi.

A sprawling lawn located at the north of Hazara Rama Temple always serves as a landmark for the temple and there is a big lawn in front of the famous ruin ‘Elephant Stables’. The green grass gives pleasant view and it adds more decoration to the elephant stables. Once this place might be used as a parade ground to train elephants for Royal Ceremonies. The whole area of ‘Zenena Enclosure’ is now an open garden with rambling lawns. People feel cool under the trees and some take nap under the trees.
